Master Modifiable Slides July 11 7

The Team-Brain version of TheBrain software is a powerful knowledge management and collaboration tool, allowing multiple people to simultaneously work on a Brain project. In the case of the Climate Web, anyone with access to the Team-Brain version of the Climate Web is able to modify and create content to.

  • add your own (non-confidential) information
  • copy and reorganize materials to better suit your needs
  • build private client and project-specific Dashboards
  • build presentations or eBooks

All of the customization you can do with Team-Brain access can be shared with colleagues and/or clients through URLs that will take them specifically to the information you’ve organized for the purpose (they don’t need Team-Brain access).

Team-Brain access generally works best when one or two members of a team are designated as Climate Web Super Users who then manage internal Team-Brain use. Other members of your organization can take advantage of free on-line or Premium Access in taking advantage of super-users’ work on behalf of the organization.

The Team-Brain version of the Climate Web continues to be updated and improved by the Climatographers, giving you elements of both worlds (the equivalent of more than a dedicated FTE updating and expanding the Climate Web, as well as the ability to customize the Climate Web to your own ends).

The 1.5o C Global TeamBrain Project

Climate change is a “wicked problem.” A low carbon transition is underway, but it’s not happening fast enough to avoid dangerous climate change, and the likelihood of triggering tipping points with potentially catastrophic consequences is increasing.

The challenges associated with tackling climate change may seem overwhelming — but so is the global brainpower focused on the problem. What’s missing, as suggested by Carla O’Dell’s quote: “if only we knew what we know,” is the ability to turn today’s collective climate knowledge into an “actionable knowledge” strategy for climate progress. The 1.5oC Global Brain Project fills that gap using the Climate Web as a starting point.

The Climate Web encompasses more than 1,000 books, 2,000 videos, 3,000 websites, 20,000 reports and journal papers, 40,000 news stories, and much more. Far more than a bibliographic database, the Climate Web has been characterized by one user as “like having 100 leading experts in climate science, climate risk, risk management, and corporate strategy collaborating with you at the decision-making table,” and by another as “if you were going to train a climate change AI, just point it to the Climate Web.”

But while the 20,000 hours spent building the Climate Web constitute a big step forward in being able to take advantage of the massive amount of existing knowledge towards a successful climate strategy, the climate change challenge requires the active collaboration of leading climate thinkers.

The 1.5oC Global Brain Project can utilize the same powerful, flexible, and easy to learn TeamBrain software used in the Climate Web to flesh out the collective intelligence that’s needed to tackle climate change. A dedicated version of the Climate Web can be used as a starting point, and can be rapidly restructured and added to to serve the needs of participants. The TeamBrain software is massively flexible, and there is no limit to the number of participants in the Project. The 1.5oC Global Brain can also be kept open access to maximize knowledge sharing.
